… we seemed to be on the television…

I was watching the news and the screen filled with a reporter's face. She was talking a lot about something and I wasn’t paying much attention. Then two other figures appeared behind her in the background. Horror and sudden realisation struck me. Those two figures weren’t just random people, they were my friend and I. We seemed to be on the television. I was hoping for the scene to change but the reporter kept talking while we were still standing unknowingly in the background. I knew what was going to happen next if the scene didn’t switch. But she talked and talked. To me it happened as if in slow` motion. Right there for the whole nation to see……..

…I wondered what was behind the door…

It was the neighborhood joke but everyone was secretly scared. ‘Old Man Marvin’ we called him. Every time we cycled or rode our horses past his house I wondered what was behind the door. The thing about Old Man Marvin was that he would come out and threaten us with CCTV cameras as all the neighborhood kids simply cycled past. He had a yappy dog that barked every time somebody came by. Old Man Marvin would come out and yell that we were disturbing his dog. He also yelled at us for disturbing his cows. We all joked that next he would tell us of for disturbing his letter box.
